ASCAN MERGENTHALER

Ascan Mergenthaler studied architecture at Stuttgart University and The Bartlett, UCL, London, UK from 1990 to 1997. He gained his architecture diploma at Stuttgart University in 1997. He worked for Konstantin Grcic – Industrial Design from 1995 to 1997. He started working for Herzog & de Meuron in 1998 and became a partner in 2004.
Among other projects, Ascan Mergenthaler was responsible for the de Young Museum in San Francisco/USA (1999 – 2005) and the Forum Building and Plaza (2000 – 2004) for the Universal Forum of Cultures in Barcelona/Spain in 2004; followed by the master plan for the Jindong New District Commercial und Business Centre in Jinhua/China (2003 – 2004) and the Tree Village Campus in Peking/China (2003 – 2004). He is also Partner in Charge for the TPT Tower in Beijing/China (2004 – 2007), the Bond Street Apartment Building in New York/USA (2004 – 2006), the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg/Germany (2003 – 2009) and the Parrish Art Museum in Southampton, Long Island, USA (2005 – 2009).
