Please join us for the second in a series of four lectures: ‘From London’ with a presentation by Hugh Strange (Hugh Strange architects, London).
‘From London’ is a series of events accompanying the exhibition that asks what it means to work in and with a city such as London today. Encompassing public talks and screening events, the series features contemporary practices for whom the British capital is not just a base of activity but also a source of inspiration, a particular context that lends their work distinction. While the participants range across generations and forms of practice, all share a common sensibility nourished by the diversity of the city: a play of variety within a certain set of parameters.
Hugh Strange (1969) established his London-based practice, Hugh Strange Architects, in 2011. In 2015 the practice’s Archive building for Drawing Matter was nominated for the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture - Mies van der Rohe Award, and in 2025 the Hastings House was shortlisted for the UK’s highest architectural award, the Stirling Prize.
Hugh Strange studied at Edinburgh University, has recently completed his PhD titled, Architecture at the Building Site, at AHO, the Oslo School of Architecture and Design, and is currently Associate Professor at the London School of Architecture.
