6/10 Denk Mal Bar: Dry Martini with Reto Nussbaumer (Cantonal Conservator Aargau)
5:00 - 8:30 pm
The 'denk mal bar' invites you to discuss the heritage conservation of tomorrow over a cool drink - because heritage conservation is and always has been a matter of negotiation. The bar becomes a discursive sculpture, its base is filled with literature that can be quickly picked up during lively discussions. This use echoes the former Kunsthalle Bar, which operated in the same space for two decades from 1984.
The picture was taken at the Winter Palace Hotel in Luxor. Historic hotels successfully market their history as a USP - why doesn't this work for all protected properties?
Reto Nussbaumer has headed the team of 15 employees at the Aargau Cantonal Monument Preservation Office for 14 years. He studied art and architectural history at the University of Zurich and completed an MAS in monument conservation at ETH Zurich. In addition to practical monument preservation, his field of activity includes passing on his specialist knowledge through lectures, guided tours, specialist articles and teaching assignments at the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland, the Bern University of Applied Sciences and the University of Bern.
During the opening hours of S AM, the denk mal bar offers a small selection of self-service bottled drinks at recommended prices:
Beer CHF 4, soft drinks CHF 3, mineral water CHF 2.
On selected Thursday evenings, experts from the fields of architecture and heritage conservation invite you to their signature drinks and informal discussions on the future of heritage conservation.
The denk mal bar was developed and operated by the architecture collective squadra for the exhibition “What Was Could Be.”
