Lecture ‘Experiencing Space’ with Ila Bêka & Louise Lemoine and film screening Koolhaas Houselife

7 PM: Lecture ‘Experiencing Space’ with Ila Bêka & Louise Lemoine
8.30 PM: Film screening KOOLHAAS HOUSELIFE – Introduction followed by Q&A with Bêka & Lemoine

Lecture:
Through a series of film excerpts, Ila Bêka and Louise Lemoine will present their evolving cinematographic research, from their first films revealing the daily intimacy within contemporary iconic buildings to their ongoing film series Homo Urbanus observing the cultural variations towards our essential needs, behaviors and habits in relation to urban space. Talking about their unique and critical position against the main strategies of representation in architecture they will explain their working methodology as filmmakers and independent producers.

After a stop at the bar of the Stadtkino Basel, there is then the opportunity to see Bêka & Lemoine's first film, with which they suddenly became internationally known: KOOLHAAS HOUSELIFE (2013).

Film:
KOOLHAAS HOUSELIFE is a film documentary about Rem Koolhaas' Maison à Bordeaux from the perspective of the housekeeper and star of the film Guadalupe Acedo. Entertaining and with a lot of humour, the film conveys how much more tangible architecture becomes when space is shown not in itself, but in its use by its users. The multi-award winning film, which critics have unanimously described as one of the best documentaries on architecture, is rarely seen in cinemas, so this screening in the presence of Bêka & Lemoine is a special opportunity!
