S AM Calls: Countdown 2030 on Instagram Live
17:00 (5 PM) CEST
«S AM Calls» is a series of Instagram Live conversations with practitioners and thinkers from the world of architecture on the pressing questions driving the built environment today.
On Friday, 28 August, at 17:00 (5 PM) CEST, please join us on our Instagram page (@s_am_basel) for the next «S AM Calls» conversation between S AM Director Andreas Ruby and Countdown 2030.
Countdown 2030 is a collective of architects that aims to create awareness about the effects of the building industry on global climate change. The climatologist Hans-Joachim Schellnhuber has argued that the decade 2020–2030 is decisive if we want to curtail the negative effects of climate change as much as possible and develop more sustainable lifestyles for the long term. Inspired by these ideas, the collective has, since its founding at the end of 2019, made use of social media, exhibitions, installations, lectures, and public discussion events to provide space for thinking, talking, and designing together. In June 2020, the group was nominated for the «Faktor 5» Prize by the non-profit organization sun21; the following month, it was also a finalist in the Architecture category of the 2020 Swiss Art Awards.
All conversations take place in English and are recorded. If you missed the previous conversations with Jacques Herzog, Vittorio Magnago Lampugnani, Ludovica Molo, Richard Hassell, Ana Puigjaner, Theo Deutinger, Jeanne Gang, Eyal, Weizman, Rahul Mehrotra, Philippe Rahm, Asymptote Architecture, Lina Ghotmeh or Beatriz Colomina you can catch up on our Instagram, Facebook and YouTube channels.
