Theaterplatz-Fest

11 AM - 6 PM

Within walking distance of the museum, the plaza Theaterplatz is a multi-voiced cultural place to spend time in, where unique architecture, film, gastronomy, history, art, literature, music, social work and theatre all come together. In an extraordinary collaboration, 11 institutions offer an invitation to attend a neighbourhood festival that will make the diversity of cultural offerings in the heart of Basel visible and tangible on Saturday 11/9/2021. Starting at 11 am, there will be a collective celebration, with open doors and arms, organised walks through the neighbouring institutions, performances, happenings, exhibitions, concerts and food stalls.
You will find all 11 participating institutions’ programmes at theaterplatz-fest.ch

S AM programme

11 AM - 6 PM: Free admission to the exhibition ‘Mock-Up’ at S AM

11 AM - 6 PM: I see something you don’t see! – The S AM Swiss Architecture Museum’s former entrance ramp becomes a viewing platform, enabling a unique view of the city and into the exhibition ‘Mock-Up’.

11 AM - 6 PM: The final exhibition hall of the S AM will be transformed into a small Panna-Soccer field (outlined only by floor markings) - a mock-up of a football field, so to speak. Visitors are invited to meet up and play Panna-Soccer. Panna-Soccer is football fun in miniature - ideal for small spaces. This game of football skill is played in small groups in a very confined space. Technique, tricks and footwork are deciding factors. The entrance ramp left over from the exhibition "Access for All" can be used to cheer on the players. This can be used as a viewing platform and offers a unique perspective over the city as well as the opportunity to watch the players playing inside through the window.

11 AM - 6 PM: Walking tours through the Theaterplatz-neighborhood.
The path leads through all cultural institutions of the neighborhood, a free discovery tour to numerous non-public places behind the scenes

1 PM - 5 PMMock-up brick workshop: Make your own brick under the instruction of architect Manuel Herz! Venue: Corner of Theaterpassage/Fasnachtsgasse by the Neptune fountain
